We’re very excited to announce that the LUMA Film Festival 2017 will be holding a screenwriting competition for a second consecutive year, this time in collaboration with The Artists Partnership!

Representing filmmakers and screenwriters behind some of the UK’s strongest creative output – from Idris Elba to York’s own Simon van der Borgh – , The Artists Partnership is a leading agency, that can certainly recognise talent when they see it.

This is where you come in! Submit your original screenplay, be it a feature film, a short film or a television pilot, to this year’s LUMA Film Festival, and it will be judged by The Artist Partnership’s Sarah Lewis and Emily Hayward-Whitlock. The winner will be awarded with the ultimate networking opportunity – a day at their London offices given exclusive insight into what they look for in a client, and the chance to make some influential contacts in the industry.

Interested? Then follow the pathway links below to submit your screenplay:

  • For Windows: \\storage\tftvsubmissions\Events\Luma\Screenplays
  • For Mac: smb://storage/tftvsubmissions/Events/Luma/Screenplays

The deadline for submitting your screenplay is Thursday 8th June at 23:59! The winner of the competition will be announced during LUMA on Saturday 17th June 2017.

The competition is open to current TFTV students only.

Third year students may submit any script written as part of the course or from your own time.

Second and third year students may wish to submit a script that was originally written as part of the FTP or WDP courses. However, it must not be awaiting assessment or marking. Course scripts can only be submitted if the marks have been delivered and ratified by the exam board. You may also submit scripts that have been written outside of the course too.

Expenses are not covered in the prize.

The winner will be announced on Saturday 17th June after the Gala Screening.

The maximum length for a script is 120 industry standard pages.

Submissions must be in PDF format with a maximum file size of 30GB.

Scripts must be written in full, we cannot accept brief concept ideas, unfinished scripts or treatments alone.

These can be scripts from films submitted to the LUMA Film Festival.

All scripts will be judged anonymously, so please do not include your name in your document.

You must complete a cover page and submit this separately along with your script (the cover page template can be found in the LUMA submissions folder).
