Film submissions

Each year the LUMA Film Festival welcomes student filmmakers within TFTV to showcase their productions and celebrate the dedication and hard work that has taken ideas from page to screen.

As always, every submission to LUMA will be shown during the weekend so all productions big and small are encouraged to enter. The top films (shortlisted by the LUMA Committee) will be shown in the Gala Screenings on Saturday and Sunday evening in the Holbeck Cinema.

The films will be eligible to win

  • The Audience Vote Award
  • The Orillo Choice Award

Our sponsors, Orillo Productions, will be selecting one film who will win a special prize at their studios in York. Both awards will be announced at our evening drinks reception following the Sunday Gala Screening on 12th June.

Deadline for submissions has now passed

The submission is open to current TFTV students only.

Students may submit any film as part of the course or from your own time. Any genre is accepted.

All films must be submitted before the deadline date, no exceptions. Superficial changes to the film can be made after the submission deadline, but before the DCP deadline.

Films can be any length up to 30 minutes in total (including titles & credits).

You must complete a cover sheet with information about your submission.

You must have permission from all those involved in the ownership of the film before submitting.

Copyright clearance is not required for LUMA Film Festival.

Students may submit more than one film but each film must have its own submission folder.
