How to Act for the Director and Direct for the Actor: A Workshop on the Do’s and Don’ts of Creative Collaboration with YAFTA’s Anna Dawson.

YAFTA’s Anna Dawson gives a workshop for actors on the intricacies of screen acting, and on how to work with film directors. At the same time, she will also be giving a workshop for directors, on how to relate to their cast and get the best performance out of them that they can. Together, this encompasses a masterclass on the do’s and don’ts of creative collaborations.

Lights, Camera, Action – 1.0: A Beginners’ Workshop on Cinematography with Orillo Productions

Keenan Foley and Jordan Clarke, from the York-based production house Orillo Productions and in collaboration with Picture Canning North, give a beginners’ workshop on cinematography. From operating the camera to lighting the scene, the heavily experienced duo will give a crash course on the first steps to mastering the art of cinematography.

A Screening of What York’s Film Students Have to Offer The Gala Screenings consist of the best of this year’s student films from the University of York, taking place in two halves on both the Saturday and Sunday nights of the festival. Bookended by a drinks’ reception before and after, the official list of films being screened is yet to be announced – so stay tuned!

And We’re Live in 3, 2, 1…: A Workshop on How to Operate a Live TV Studio Broadcast

In our state-of-the-art TV Studio and Gallery, our final year students offer a workshop on all they have learned in live television broadcasting. From camera operating, to managing the sound booth, to running autocues, this is a comprehensive guide into the other side of the screen, both on the floor and in the gallery, and in the world of live television.
